Level 4 – Ages 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 (August 1994 – July 1999)
Level 5 – Ages 22 through 35 (July 1981 – July 1994)

Topics

Speech

Level 2: What do you understand about obedience from the book of Jonah?
Level 3 – 5: The topics will be given 1 hour prior to the start of the competition.

Essay Writing

Level 2: Unconditional Love
Level 3 – 5: The topics will be given 1 hour prior to the start of the competition.


Judging Criteria

Solo with or without music (10 points)

1. The Posture and proper enunciation of words in the song.
2. Keeping in sync with the music, if using an accompaniment tape.
3. Rhythm as well as keeping the Tempo and the Timing in a song.
4. Staying on key, and keeping the pitch and the tone within the range.
5. Demonstrating confidence, style.
6. Good breathing and voice projection.
7. Proper use of gestures that conveys contestants’ interpretations and feelings.
8. No lip-synching or relying on the human voice from the tape.
9. The theme and spiritual message of the song.
10. Keeping within the allotted time.

(3 minutes for Solo without music / 6 minutes for Solo with music)

Group Song

1. Posture and proper enunciation of words
2. Harmony, melody and rhythm parts balanced
3. Unified ensemble; voices balanced across parts and within parts
4. Creativity – textural changes, within a range appropriate for singers’ voices
5. Performance true to the style of the arrangement
6. Interpretation of the arrangement musically, lyrically and rhythmically interesting
7. Rhythmic precision and tempo consistency
8. Musicality of the performance, quality of soloists
9. The theme and spiritual message of the song
10. Keeping within the allotted time.
NOTE: NO Pre-Recorded music / tracks of any kind can be used (that includes per-recorded beats from keyboard).

(3 minutes for Group Song without music / 6 minutes Group Song with music)

Speech (10 points)

1. The delivery; emphasizing the points clearly in an organized and logical manner.
2. Use of supportive examples and references that illustrate the points.
3. A logical structure comprising of introduction, body and conclusion.
4. Conveyed the theme and message clearly with flow and cohesiveness.
5. Keeping within the allotted time. (5 min.)

Essay Writing (10 points)

1. Clarity; ease of understanding the thoughts without difficulty.
2. Use of supportive references and practical examples.
3. Theme; emphasizing yet precise.
4. A logical structure and flow using an introduction, body and conclusion.
5. Style of writing that fosters creativity and is thought provoking.

Bible Quiz (10 points)

1. Right answer to the question.
2. Keeping within the allotted time.
3. No partial credits will be given.

Memory Verse 

Level 1 & 2

1. Oral competition. (Non-elimination method, with one contestant per judge.)
2. No reference required.
3. A written / printed list of verses (along with which Bible version was used) that the contestant has learned and will recite, must be submitted to the judge at the time of the competition.
4. Must be a complete verse. No repetition of similar verses, not even from other books in the Bible.
5. A maximum of only 15 sec. permitted between verses.

Level 3 – 5

1. Written competition.
2. Bible reference is required.
3. Must be a complete verse. No repetition of similar verses, not even from other books in the Bible.
4. A maximum of only 30 minutes permitted for memory verse writing
