Topics

Speech

Level 2: How can one be faithful towards God? (Luke 16:10-12, Revelation 2:10)
Level 3 – 5: The topics will be given on the day of the competition.

Essay Writing

Level 2: What does it mean to be a child of God in your sight?
Level 3 – 5: The topics will be given on the day of the competition.


Judging Criteria

Solo with or without music

  1. The Posture and proper enunciation of words in the song.
  2. Keeping in sync with the music, if using an accompaniment tape -the Rhythm as well as keeping the Tempo and the Timing in a song.
  3. Staying on key, and keeping the pitch and the tone within the range.
  4. Demonstrating confidence, style, good breathing and voice projection.
  5. Proper use of gestures that conveys contestants’ interpretations and feelings.
  6. No lip-synching or relying on the human voice from the tape.
  7. The theme and spiritual message of the song.
  8. Keeping within the allotted time. (6 minutes for solo)

Group Song

  1. Keeping the time limit – 6 min. (Warning flag after 5 min. 30 sec.)
  2. No pre-recorded music of any kind being used.
  3. The posture and proper annunciation of words in the song.
  4. Keeping the Rhythm, Tempo and the Timing in a song.
  5. Everyone staying on key and keeping the pitch and the tone together.
  6. Demonstrating confidence, coordination, style, harmony, and in unison.
  7. Good use of gestures conveying group’s interpretations and feelings in the song.
  8. The theme and spiritual message of the song.
    NOTE: FOR GROUP SONG THERE IS NO AGE LIMIT, BUT ONLY FIFTEEN (15) PARTICIPANTS INCLUDING SINGERS AND ALL INSTRUMENT PLAYERS CAN BE IN ONE TEAM. IF YOUR TEAM PERFORMED WITH MORE THAN FIFTEEN PARTICIPANTS, THE ENTIRE TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
    NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

Speech

  1. The delivery; emphasizing the points clearly in an organized and logical manner.
  2. Use of supportive examples and references that illustrate the points.
  3. A logical structure comprising of introduction, body and conclusion.
  4. Conveyed the theme and message clearly with flow and cohesiveness.
  5. Keeping within the allotted time. (5 minutes)
  6. Must use the word ‘Christ’ or ‘Jesus’ at least once in the speech.
  7. Must use at least one reference from Bible

Essay Writing

  1. Clarity; ease of understanding the thoughts without difficulty.
  2. Use of supportive references and practical examples.
  3. Theme; emphasizing yet precise.
  4. A logical structure and flow using an introduction, body and conclusion.
  5. Style of writing that fosters creativity and is thought provoking.
  6. Keeping within the allotted time. (30 minutes)

Bible Quiz

  1. Write/choose from option/ Fill in the blanks.
  2. Keeping within the allotted time (30 minutes)
  3. No partial credits will be given.

Memory Verse 

Level 1 & 2

  1. Oral competition. (Non-elimination method, with one contestant per judge.)
  2. No reference required or allowed.
  3. Must be a complete verse. No repetition of similar verses, not even from other books in the Bible.
  4. A maximum of only 15 sec. permitted between verses
  5. A written / printed list of verses (along with which Bible version was used) that the contestant has learned and will recite, must be submitted to the judge at the time of the competition.

Level 3 – 5

  1. Total time limit 30 minutes.
  2. Only one Bible version, (NIV, KJV NASB, Etc.) can be used. Bible version must be written on the paper provided.
  3. Must be written in a legible manner using Malayalam or English. Only one language can be used.
  4. No repetition of similar verses from different references.
  5. Each verse must be complete and must have a full reference.
  6. Five bonus points awarded, if verses written from all 66 books.
